Selection is primarily based on financial need.
Need is based on declared income and from the recommendation of their homeroom adviser and teachers who know them well.
The Committee on Scholarship in the High School, composed of faculty members (who are also homeroom advisers) plus a student representative, is tasked to select the scholars.
With limited scholarship slots each year, the Committee on Scholarship makes its decision on each application after carefully examining the family’s finances, the academic record of the applicant, and recommendations of teachers. Student applicants and their parents may also be called in for interview.
The Committee on Scholarship has a ranking system for prioritizing the scholarship applicants.
The Committee on Scholarship along with the UPCHSAAI Scholarships Committee match the scholars with the alumni benefactors.
